"I raise up my voice, not so I can shout but so that those without a voice can be heard...we cannot succeed when half of us are held back. "
~ Malala Yousafzai

The Yearbook Committee is holding a winter photography contest. All students are invited to enter. Simply snap a photo of your favourite winter wonderland scene and email it to bessboroughyearbook@gmail.com.
We are looking for photos that do not show people's faces. Contest closes January 31.
Last week the Wellness Group focused our daily announcements around tips to help get back into a healthy routine (eating well, getting to bed on time, staying organized, etc.). Our Mindful Minute on Guided Meditation can be found here https://youtu.be/dEzbdLn2bJc.
This week, the Wellness announcements will focus on ways to demonstrate respect. Our Mindful Minute on Progressive Muscle Relaxation can be found here Progressive Muscle Relaxation Exercise.
The following sessions will be running this week. Please ensure students who normally eat lunch at home, bring their lunch to school that day.
For more information about the lunch programs, please contact Jacqui Dickens at jacandphil98@hotmail.com or Laura Rumble at laura.rumble10@gmail.com.
The Bessborough Athletic Council is running intramurals for grade fives and sixes. Because there is no school on Friday, only the grade fives will have intramurals this week, Thursday at lunch.
Students participating will be picked up from the lunchroom at 12:00 and brought to the big gym to begin their first intramural. Please make sure they are prepared with proper shoes and a lunch.
The Bessborough Athletic Council is excited to continue more fun intramurals in the weeks to come.

Ready to Read!
Thanks to funds from H&S, the Forest of Reading program has kicked off at Bessborough.
Here’s a look at the books set up in the library.
Families keen to learn more can click here: https://sites.google.com/a/tdsb.on.ca/bessborough-library/forest-of-reading-2017 or check out the twitter feed: @Bessborough_FOR
You’ll learn about ongoing activity related to the Forest of Reading as the kids start rating and talking about the books.
Thanks to Ms. Surdivall and all our staff who have volunteered as readers in this program.
Well Wishes
We’d like to send our best wishes to Renee Cronier who is leaving early on maternity leave. Thank you for everything you do for Home & School and all our Bessborough families.
