week of June 5th

A Message from the Administrative Team:

"The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today."
                                                                                                       ~ H Jackson Brown, Jr

We want to congratulate our Grade 3 and 6 students for their focus and time on EQAO this past week as well as all the teachers who helped support them!  Students had to focus on a concentrated schedule and did great!  Thank you students and staff!

Just a reminder that Monday is our last Sub day!  Any subs that are not picked up are brought to the office.

Friday June 9th is a PA Day - No School!

Have a fantastic week!
~ Ms Broderick and Ms Rosenbloom

Did you know...

... that Bessborough offers over 15 clubs and over 20 sports teams that run during

morning, lunch, recess or after school?

To run these clubs teachers provide their extra time to provide enriching activities.  Parents volunteers also contribute their time and resources to support and collaborate with teachers.

To run these sports teams, teachers volunteer to coach and run practices.  Supply teacher costs are made to release teachers every time there is an event outside of school.  Parent volunteers also offer their coaching expertise, time to assist and drive students to their games and tournaments.

Thank you teachers and parent volunteers for helping provide these great opportunities.

Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast:
Monday June 19th @ 8:15 am

In appreciation of all our wonderful volunteers, the staff at Bessborough invites you to our annual "Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast" on Monday, June 19 at 8:15 a.m. in the library.

We hope that you can join us for some food and conversation and to help us celebrate all your contributions to the school.

Grade 6 to 7 Orientation: June 7

Grade 6 students from our feeder schools will join us for the morning at Bessborough for some team building activities.  We look forward to meeting our future grade 7s coming in.

There will be a parent information session on June 7th at 6:30 pm for all parents who have children going to Bessborough for Grade 7 next year. We will also have our Bessborough Coffee House full of music and art which begins at 6:00 pm.

We hope you can join us!

ECO Club's Cyclecolour Program:

This year, the Eco Club set a goal to reduce the amount of landfill we generate as a school. A few months ago, the students started an initiative to recycle all dried up markers. Crayola will pick up all brands of dried up felt markers free of charge and recycle the materials for other products. So far, our school has recycled over 1,000 markers!

Way to go Bessborough!

Lost & Found Look Through
Reunited and it feels so good ….. ♬♬
Please be advised that all Lost and Found items will be laid out on tables in Bessborough’s main hallway beginning next week for all parents and children to look through.  Everything will be on display until June 16th.  After that, items will be donated to a local charity.

Last H&S Meeting - Save the Date!
Our last H&S general meeting for this school year will be on Tuesday June 13th at 7pm in the library.  We will vote on next year’s operating budget, review our projects from this year including Mayfair, and as always, look for feedback and ideas from the membership.  There will be babysitting provided in the mini gym.  See you there!

Appreciation Corner
A shout out to Kristine and Jason Locklin for hosting the Lawn Bowling Social and also to Christine Hanlon, Lauren Morgan and Cabrina Skillen for their help putting on the event.
Also, more Mayfair shout outs this week - to Mary Holmes for getting all the candy and to the Gagnon Family for handling the BBQ.  THANKS ALL!

    Community Coffee
These meetings are held in the mornings in a local restaurant (often Longo's on Laird). They are attended by the Supervisory Officers for our area, parents and community members.  There may be a report from the Board but there is no Agenda and attendees raise issues they would like to discuss.
